  • I don't know the legal arguments here but I do believe that it is appropriate to mandate everyone have health insurance. It doesn't surprise me that the poll shows the majority is not in favor of this provision but it is the only way that we will ever have affordable health care.

  • Let's see ..... if we extend the tax cuts the family of 4 would have about $18,400 each after fed taxes to spend for the year and the person with the higher income would have about $258,000 after fed tax to spend.

  • All the best progressive programs ... social security, medicare, civil rights legislation .. were controversial and hard fought wins. Is there a cost? Of course .... nothing worthwhile is free. My parents were not wealthy. They worked hard so I could have a better life.

  • Take more time so that healthcare reform can be shot down?  Been there, done that 20 years ago.  The momentum is here, and now is when something needs to be done. Sure, there will be unintended consequences and ideas in the bill that don't pan out.  Nothing is perfect..esp.
